Sense of belonging

These days Bangalore has been intolerable. For more reasons than one. I feel people have lost the sense of belonging or even worse they never had it in them.

I am obviously talking of the traffic! I mean how can a big town or small city like Bangalore take so much traffic? Ok, we can't reverse this process...but hey at least ppl who are driving/riding should know how to drive and to follow rules.

Every rule has an exception and everybody seems to go by the exception always and forget the rule! Autos are bloody terrible drivers. Dont even mention about the zig-zagging two-wheelers. Cabs, Buses...u name it all are terrible. Educated idiots are the people who drive cars most of the times. They will follow what others do rather
than doing what is right. No sense...only nonsense.

If it's a 2-way road without a divider...ppl assume that the other side of the road is also theirs...and jump to that lane adding to the already jamms situation. Irregular stopping...no indication while turning or
changing lanes. Littering the road while driving...Pollution....oooph...where are we headed? Doom for sure.

Bangalore/India needs a catastrophe to eliminate all nonsense...it needs a benovelent dictator who will fill fear in ppl about not obeying rules.

Our law is very kind. It's only about paying fines. They should introduce a system, wherein, if anyone violates a law, they are required to work for the same for sometime free of cost. For example, if someone has created a jam...he/she should be made to stand and monitor the traffic till the jam is cleared. Ppl pay up money easily than lose time over such activities. Only when they know what the trouble is will they ever experience the "sense of belonging".

Well said dude...

You can't change the attitude of people overnight....and b'lore is not full of smart people like u!!!

Here r my suggestions to improve Bangalore traffic

1. Phase out AutoRikshaws
2. Introduce lane system
3. Speed up the Metro Rail project

Adding to the points...

Do not just blame citizens. Govt's involvement is necessary for improving the infrastructure. What will a common man do if there are roads without asphalting, streetlights, dividers, police to man traffic.

PEOPLE LEARN BY FORCE

Limit private vehicles. China/japan have huge taxes clubbed with long waiting list in tune of 5-7 years on new vehicles.

hi Raghuram,

India Bashing...this is one of my pet subjects too. SOme day i hope to write a real stinker on this subject. Anyway isn't the mention of the country/city needing a catestrophe a tad too rude and ruthless. Smiles.
I have real concern over these nouveau-riche who masquarade in cars creating the whole big dirty jams in the morning. I mean there would be just one blighter sitting and moving around in the car and 100 such guys clog the whole traffic... all these fellows ought to be more responsible and take office shuttles to commute to office and use to car for personal purposes when they are out with their family. Two wheelers is another really useful option to fall on... but again all these upstarts find the dust very iritable and want to be sitting inside the conzy environs of their AC cars.. i spit me of zem all; And reaching their respective offices it is the same guys who talk at lenght about the traffic, infrastructure and the roads of Bangalore.

Another point you mentioned about instance justice... i am all for it too. And every offence, however slight, should carry with it punishment. Only the fear of instant punishment will bring about some improvement in the system.

As i said, this being my pet subject, i can go on and on but shall rest here.

Let us be responsible - each one of us.
